Peterson Selected to Lead Initiative

Reid Peterson is the new Initiative Lead for NPSI. His selection was announced by PNNL Energy and Environment Directorate Associate Laboratory Director Jud Virden on October 5.

Dr. Peterson has been involved with NPSI prior to its inception. Most recently, he has been leading the initiative's science thrust focused on linking interfacial phenomena to bulk properties. His research expertise is in the field of waste processing for treatment of high-level waste, plus he has an extensive background in managing large research programs and in taking projects from inception to pilot-scale proof of concept. Based in the Radiochemical Processing Laboratory (RPL), Peterson also serves as the Radiochemical Science Team Lead in PNNL's Nuclear Sciences Division and the program manager for the Waste Treatment Project Support Program. He will be inducted later this month as a Fellow of the American Institute of Chemical Engineers.

Dr. Peterson succeeds Dr. Sue Clark, who led NPSI since she joined PNNL in 2015. Clark recently was appointed to a new role as EED's Chief Science and Technology Officer.
