Communications Specialist
Tim Ledbetter

Tim Ledbetter is a communications specialist within PNNL’s Energy and Environment Directorate. He possesses nearly 30 years of experience, spanning from broadcast news to organizational and marketing communications. In addition to providing support to the Nuclear Process Science Initiative, Mr. Ledbetter serves as the communications point-of-contact for PNNL’s Control of Complex Systems Initiative and is involved in a wide range of communications and marketing activities for PNNL's power grid and buildings research.

Mr. Ledbetter joined PNNL in 1994, previously having been employed as a reporter, anchor and news director at KTVM-TV in Butte, Mont. At PNNL, he has worked in multiple roles and has supported efforts in staff communications, media relations and the Laboratory Director’s Office. He also has served as a PNNL communications liaison to the Department of Energy’s site office. More recently, he has supported many PNNL Energy and Environment Directorate communications activities, including development of informational and marketing materials for various research disciplines. He provided communications support to the groundbreaking PNNL Future Power Grid Initiative, which concluded in 2015, and concurrently served as the communications contact for the multi-state, Battelle-led Pacific Northwest Smart Grid Demonstration Project. He enjoys writing, and for several years penned the captions for PNNL’s annual Science as Art calendar. Mr. Ledbetter graduated from Hermiston High School in Hermiston, Ore., in 1979, and from the University of Oregon in 1983. He holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Journalism.
